Criminal Records Bureau

Certain roles within the College will require a screening from the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) if they involve working with children or vulnerable adults or if they have access to personal records such as patient files.

It is important that these roles are identified at the earliest possible opportunity in order that a CRB check can be carried out. Normally this should be identified at a recruitment stage but there may be cases where a job role changes and necessitates a CRB check.

Guidance for Departments and Institutes

We have produced guidance to help departments identify who requires a CRB check, tell them how to go about arranging it and explain what needs to be done when recruiting to a relevant position.
