I worked in contract catering before coming to Queen Mary, which is a very profit driven environment. My staff were not well paid, did not receive sick pay and had no access to a pension scheme. My staff here at the College have better salaries and better benefits; this attracts and retains higher quality staff. The College’s flexible working policy also allows employees with families to work only in term time, which is excellent.
